Diwali in Dubai 2026: Best Places, Events and Travel Guide

Diwali falls on Sunday 8 November 2026, and the Lakshmi Puja window runs from 5.58pm to 7.56pm UAE time. Diwali is not a public holiday here, so almost everything happens in those evening hours. White Line Limousine LLC has provided rent-a-cars with driver services across Dubai since 2011, and this is one of the few evenings a year when the booking has to be planned backwards from a clock.

Last year around 50,000 worshippers reached one address in Jebel Ali across the festival, and that number should shape how you travel. This guide gives the dates, the venues, and the timings, then what White Line Limousine LLC needs from you to put a car at the door. Every journey below is a rent a car with driver booking with an RTA-approved chauffeur, so no license, permit, or deposit is involved.

When Diwali Falls in 2026 and the Two Hours That Matter

The five days of Diwali 2026 open with Dhanteras on Friday 6 November and Choti Diwali on Saturday 7 November. Diwali and Lakshmi Puja fall on Sunday 8 November, followed by Govardhan Puja on Monday 9 November and Bhai Dooj on Tuesday 10 November.

Two timings decide the journey. Gulf News gives the Lakshmi Puja muhurat on 8 November as 5.58pm to 7.56pm UAE time, with the Dhanteras window on 6 November running 6.06pm to 8.03pm. Families time the puja, the gold purchase, and the dinner inside those windows.

The second detail is that the UAE works through Diwali. Offices and schools keep normal hours. Friday 6 November and Sunday 8 November each carry a full working day of traffic and then the festival on top of it, which is why we set Diwali pickups early and why the evening slots fill first.

The Worship Village at Jebel Ali

Dubai’s two largest Diwali congregations share a single location: Hindu Temple Dubai and the Guru Nanak Darbar Gurdwara both stand in the Worship Village at Jebel Ali, alongside the churches. The scale is the thing to understand before you drive there.

Gulf News reported the two venues expecting around 50,000 worshippers over Diwali 2025. Hindu Temple Dubai took more than 10,000 on the Saturday, expected 18,000 to 20,000 on the Sunday, and more than 25,000 on Diwali Day. The Gurdwara expected about 15,000, then 25,000 on the day.

Published hours last Diwali were 6am to 8.30pm at the temple, which said it might extend them with the crowd, and 4.30am to 8.30pm at the Gurdwara. The temple ran family queues at the front entrance and bachelor entries from the basement and used indoor halls as holding areas. Both coordinated with the Dubai Police and the RTA, which increased feeder bus frequency from the Energy and Ibn Battuta Metro stations.

Confirm this year’s hours with the venues, since the 2026 arrangements had not been published when this was written. The pattern will hold: one address, tens of thousands of people, and a car park that fills long before the puja window. A chauffeured booking sets you down at the entrance, and the car leaves. We recommend a chauffeur in Jebel Ali for temple runs over any arrangement that needs a space.

Bur Dubai, Meena Bazaar, and the Gold Souk

The older quarter is the other focus and a harder drive than Jebel Ali, because the Shiva and Krishna Mandir complex in Bur Dubai sits in the lanes behind Meena Bazaar, where the streets are narrow and largely pedestrian. It is the longest-standing Hindu temple in the country.

Dhanteras is why this area matters on 6 November. Buying gold that day is traditional, so Meena Bazaar and the Deira gold souk take their heaviest evening of the year inside the 6.06pm to 8.03pm window.

No car reaches a shop door in either souk. The approach is to be set down at the nearest vehicle access point, walk in, then call the chauffeur when you are ready. Tell us which end of the bazaar you want, and we will pick the drop-off that shortens the walk.

Where to See the Lights

Dubai has no single official Diwali light display. What it has is a set of venues that decorate and program for the festival, and in past years the city has staged public fireworks.

The reliable evening circuit is Downtown for the Burj Khalifa light show, the promenades at Dubai Mall, Dubai Festival City, and Global Village, and the beachfront at Bluewaters and The Pointe. Several hotels run Diwali menus and gala evenings.

Programs for 2026 had not been published when this guide was written, so check each venue directly instead of trusting last year’s listings. We will not name an event we cannot verify. For a circuit across several of these in one evening, an hourly block keeps the car with you between stops, which is what a Dubai city tour booking is for.

The Five Days and What Each Does to the Roads

Dhanteras on Friday 6 November, is a working day that ends in the gold buying window from 6.06pm, so the souks and Meena Bazaar run at their heaviest between six and eight. Saturday 7 November eases the daytime roads, though temple numbers build through it. Last year the Saturday alone brought more than 10,000 people to Jebel Ali.

Diwali itself on Sunday 8 November puts a full working day in front of the 5.58pm puja window and the largest congregation of the five. It is the day to book earliest and leave earliest for. Govardhan Puja on Monday, 9 November, is an ordinary working day with temple visiting at a lower volume. Bhai Dooj on Tuesday, 10 November, spreads family visiting across residential districts instead of concentrating it at one address.

How We Plan a Diwali Booking

Give us the venue, the date, and the time you need to be there, and we will work out the departure. We work the pickup back from your puja or dinner booking and build in the evening traffic, which on 6 and 8 November is heavier than a normal weekday.

Vehicle choice follows the group. Our executive saloons publish three passengers, so four or more need the Toyota Previa or the Kia Carnival at seven, through our seven seater car hire. Send the head count with the bag count if you are carrying gifts or puja items.

Every published rate covers the chauffeur, fuel, Salik tolls, insurance, VAT, and parking, excluding airport parking. Chauffeurs are RTA approved, speak English and Arabic, and reach the pickup point before the booked time. Cancellation is free twenty-four hours or more before pickup, and every booking and change is confirmed by email. Visitors flying in can add airport collection with sixty minutes of free waiting after landing or keep a car with a driver for the whole stay.

Questions People Ask

Is Diwali a Public Holiday in the UAE?

No. Offices and schools work as normal, which is why celebrations are concentrated in the evenings and why the roads carry a full working day plus the festival.

Where Is the Main Diwali Celebration in Dubai?

The Worship Village at Jebel Ali, where Hindu Temple Dubai and the Guru Nanak Darbar Gurdwara sit together. The two expected around 50,000 worshippers across Diwali 2025.

What Time Should I Leave for the Temple?

Earlier than the distance suggests, and well before the puja window. The car parks at Jebel Ali fill in in the afternoon, so we set pickups from your arrival deadline.

Can the Chauffeur Wait While We Are Inside?

Yes, within a five- or ten hour block. The car holds at a legal stopping point and returns to the entrance when you call.

Which Vehicle Suits a Family Temple Visit?

A seven-seater is a people carrier for four or more passengers, since our executive saloons publish three. Tell us the head count and whether you are carrying gifts, and we will name the vehicle.

Do You Operate Stretch Limousines for Diwali?

No. Our fleet runs executive saloons, SUVs, people carriers, vans, and coaches, which reach temple and hotel entrances that a stretch vehicle cannot.
