- Positives of Booking Long-Term Car Rental in Dubai with Driver

Long-term car hire with a driver makes sense the moment you stop booking journeys and start booking your week. If you need a car most working days, paying by the day is the expensive way to do it, and running your own car is the complicated way.
That is the whole argument, and the rest of this page is the arithmetic and the terms behind it. White Line Limousine LLC has been running monthly and long-term chauffeur plans in Dubai since 2011, so the figures below come from our own rate card rather than from a general description of the market.
Our plans run over 1, 3, 6 or 12 months. Each one comes with a vehicle, a professional chauffeur, maintenance handled by us, 24/7 customer support and round-the-clock roadside assistance. Every plan carries an agreed monthly mileage cap, and you can upgrade at any point if your needs grow mid-term.
What that means day to day is that the car arrives, the driving is done for you, and nothing about the vehicle is your problem. Servicing, registration, insurance and the annual test sit with us. So does the chauffeur’s licensing, since our drivers are RTA approved and speak English and Arabic.
The old version of this argument is that long-term hire is “financially relaxed”. That is true but useless. The specific version is that four separate costs disappear at once: the car, the driver, the running costs, and the administration that surrounds both.
Work out how many days a month you genuinely need a car, then compare.
At our published rates, a ten-hour full day in a Lexus ES 300h is AED 700 and a five-hour half day is AED 400. If you book a full day every working day, roughly twenty-two of them a month, daily bookings come to around AED 15,400. Booking half days instead brings that to about AED 8,800.
Nobody should be paying day rates at that volume. Once your usage passes ten or twelve days a month, ask for a monthly quote and compare it against what you are actually spending. Below that, daily or hourly bookings usually remain the better arrangement, and we will say so rather than pushing a plan you do not need.
The other half of the calculation is the time nobody prices. An executive who drives themselves through Sheikh Zayed Road traffic twice a day loses ninety minutes of usable working time. A chauffeured back seat turns that into calls, reading or quiet before a meeting.
The quoted rate carries fuel, Salik tolls, VAT, insurance and standard parking. Airport parking is the routine exception, since the airports bill it separately.
Longer term, the list of things you avoid grows. No depreciation on a vehicle you do not own. No servicing schedule, tyres or battery replacement. No registration renewal or annual test. No comprehensive insurance policy in your name. No Salik account to top up, and no traffic fines to argue about, since those follow the driver and the operator rather than the passenger.
For a resident weighing a car purchase against a long-term plan, that is the honest comparison. The monthly figure on a plan looks higher than a loan instalment until you add everything the instalment does not cover.
Against self-drive monthly rental, the difference is a driver and a licence. Self-drive is cheaper on paper and requires you to hold a valid UAE licence, park the car, fuel it, pay Salik and deal with any damage. With a chauffeur, none of that exists, which is why visitors, executives on assignment and families without a local licence choose it.
Against employing your own driver, the difference is administration. Employing someone means a sponsorship, a standard contract through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, a visa, Emirates ID, medical test, mandatory health insurance, accommodation or an allowance, an annual ticket home and end-of-service benefits. Then you still need to buy the car. A plan replaces all of it with one monthly invoice, and cover during leave or illness is our problem rather than yours.
Against daily bookings, the difference is price at volume and continuity of chauffeur. Against ride-hailing apps, it is the ability to keep a car through a day of appointments rather than rebooking at every stop.
Every long-term plan carries a monthly mileage allowance. Ask for the figure in writing before the plan starts, and be honest with yourself when you estimate.
The most common underestimate we see is the intercity commute. Someone living in Dubai but working two days a week in Abu Dhabi adds roughly 300 kilometres a week to their usage without thinking of it as travel. School runs, weekend trips to the northern emirates and airport runs for visiting family all add up the same way.
Track your first month against the cap rather than guessing for a year. Plans can be upgraded at any point, which is the sensible way to handle a usage pattern that turns out heavier than expected.
On a long plan, the vehicle becomes ordinary quickly. The chauffeur does not.
Ask for continuity. A chauffeur who learns your routine, your building’s entrance, the school gate timings and how you prefer to be driven removes a conversation from every morning. That familiarity is most of what a long-term plan buys beyond the car itself, and it is worth requesting specifically rather than assuming.
Then ask the awkward questions. What happens on the chauffeur’s rest days and during annual leave? Is a replacement provided, and will they be briefed? What arrives if your assigned vehicle goes in for service? A serious operator answers all three without hesitating, and 24/7 support exists precisely so these do not become your problem at seven in the morning.
Executives on three to six month assignments, who need daily transport without converting a licence or buying a car for a temporary posting.
Families without a UAE licence holder, or households where one car cannot cover a school run and a work commute happening in opposite directions at the same hour.
Companies with continuous visitor traffic, who would otherwise book thirty separate journeys a month and reconcile thirty separate receipts.
Residents who drive little but need a car reliably, and who find the sum of ownership costs hard to justify against the number of days the car actually moves.
And anyone with an elderly parent or family member who needs regular, predictable transport from someone they recognise.
Put five things in writing. The daily hours the car and chauffeur are yours. The monthly mileage cap. How extra time is charged, which for us is the car’s normal hourly rate rather than a penalty rate. What cover applies when your chauffeur or vehicle is unavailable. And the notice period for changing or upgrading the plan.
Confirm the invoicing arrangement too if you are booking as a company, since a monthly plan is usually settled on one invoice rather than per journey.
Bookings cancelled at least 24 hours before pickup are fully refundable, which applies to individual journeys within a plan as much as to one-off bookings.
The length you commit to should follow how certain your plans are, not how much you hope to save.
A one-month plan is the sensible starting point for anyone new to this arrangement. It covers a probation period on your own usage, and it tells you more in four weeks than any estimate will. Executives arriving on a short posting and families trialling a school-run arrangement usually start here.
Three and six-month terms suit defined projects: a secondment, a construction or consultancy engagement, a company hosting visitors through the winter season. The commitment matches the work, and it ends when the work does.
A twelve-month term is for settled, predictable use, typically a resident who has decided against owning a car or a company with permanent executive transport needs.
Whichever you pick, ask what happens at the end. A plan that rolls over on the same terms is easier to manage than one requiring renegotiation, and plans can be upgraded mid-term if your usage grows. Starting short and extending costs you very little. Committing to twelve months before you understand your own pattern is how people end up paying for capacity they never use.

What is long-term car rental with a driver in Dubai?
It is a chauffeur-driven vehicle hired for a month or longer rather than by the journey. Our plans run over 1, 3, 6 or 12 months and include the vehicle, a professional chauffeur, maintenance, 24/7 support, roadside assistance and an agreed monthly mileage cap.
Is a monthly plan cheaper than booking by the day?
It depends on volume. At published rates a full day is AED 700 in a Lexus ES 300h, so booking one every working day comes to roughly AED 15,400 a month. Above about ten to twelve days of use a month, ask for a monthly quote. Below that, daily bookings usually remain better value.
Do I need a UAE driving licence for a long-term plan with a driver?
No. The chauffeur drives, so no licence or International Driving Permit is required from you. Individuals normally provide an Emirates ID or passport copy, and companies a trade licence and TRN for invoicing.
What is included in the monthly price?
The vehicle, the chauffeur, maintenance, 24/7 support and roadside assistance, along with fuel, Salik tolls, VAT, insurance and standard parking. Airport parking is charged separately, and each plan carries a monthly mileage cap agreed before it starts.
Can I have the same chauffeur throughout the plan?
Yes, and it is worth requesting. A chauffeur who knows your routine, your building and your usual routes saves time every day. Ask what cover applies during rest days and annual leave so there are no surprises.
Can I change the vehicle or upgrade mid-term?
Yes. Plans can be upgraded at any point during the term, which suits companies and families whose requirements change partway through a contract.
