To enhance road safety and increase mobility, Dubai is about to launch AVs (Autonomous Vehicles) by 2026- a news disclosed as Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority expanded its partnerships with Apollo Go.
Not only Dubai, but Abu Dhabi is also planning to go full scale with Kintsugi Holding company, which covers Autogo. Abu Dhabi has announced its Robo Taxi trials in the city and plans to scale them up to operation by 2026.
This news will solve the biggest problem of both these metropolitan cities —the traffic congestion or deadlock situation, which is estimated to be cut by 60% with these autonomous vehicles.
In contrast to Abu Dhabi, Dubai is about to launch these driverless taxis with the Apollo Go, which is an autonomous mobility arm. The city will launch these with the platform of Uber, which is in partnership with Uber Technologies, WeRide, and China’s Baidu- that is quite news.
As per the Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA- Mattar Al Tayer,
Dubai aims to transform 25 percent of its rides to these autonomous vehicles under Dubai’s Self-Driving Transport Strategy by 2030, and this partnership will pave the way to achieve this goal.
This partnership will also align with the “First and Last Mile Strategy,” which was adopted by the city in 2024 to lessen the distance between the point of origin and the nearest taxi point, he added.

Baidu Corporate Vice President, President of Baidu Intelligent Driving Group, Dr Wang Yunpeng, backed the news announcement with a statement that Apollo Go can go 150 plus kilometers safely and successfully deployed in more than 10 Chinese cities.
